Stephen Millar Joins Nukorc Board As Chairman
Well-known Australian wine industry figure, Mr Stephen Millar, has been appointed Chairman of Adelaide synthetic cork manufacturer, NuKorc.
Mr Millar was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Constellation Wines.
NuKorc CEO, Mr Brian Dolling, said Mr Millar’s appointment was an exciting development for the company.
“It is fantastic to have someone with Stephen’s understanding of the wine industry on the Board. He has made an immediate contribution,” he said.
Mr Millar said that NuKorc had achieved impressive growth during the past few years and he hoped to be able to help further develop the company in the years ahead.
Mr Millar was the Managing Director of BRL Hardy from 1991 until it was acquired by Constellation Wines in 2001. Since then, Mr Millar has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Constellation until his recent retirement. He is currently non executive Chairman of Constellation Wines.
He is also Deputy Chairman of the International Trade Advisory Committee of the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia, President of the Australian Wine and Brandy Producers’ Association, Vice President of the Winemakers Federation of Australia, Deputy Chairman of the Australian Wine Export Council, and Director of Business SA.
NuKorc, based in suburban Pooraka, makes high technology closures for wine bottles, concentrating on wines that dominate sales volumes.
The company currently makes about 500 million closures a year, exporting to major wineries in France, Spain, Italy and the US as well as in Australia and has established finishing plants for its product in France, Spain and the USA to reduce overseas delivery times.
